Surviving Actors January 30th 2010

Categories: Member News

I set up Surviving Actors as an event for professional actors to group together and share ideas and advice on how to survive real life as an actor- no talk or fame and fortune, just survival! I have invited companies who I feel can benefit attendees and who offer quality services. Our aim is to only invite companies that we would use ourselves. Quality not quantity has been a key focus in the organisation of this event.

The three areas of the convention are - develop, sustain and create. In the ‘develop’ sector companies such as photographers, casting websites, show reels and many more are able to give obligation free advice on their services. ‘Sustain’ consists of second job opportunities- promotional agencies and young theatre schools searching for teachers. A fantastic chance to finance yourself between jobs. The final sector is ‘Create’ where actors can learn how to create opportunities for themselves- seminars from casting directors, theatre companies and festival organisers will be taking place throughout the day.

The convention at the end of January will be the first of many to help actors survive a notoriously difficult career. Entrance is free, as are the seminars which actors can attend. There is also a chance to book a careers advice appointment for impartial advice on how to progress.

The fact that all the areas of the event are completely free is very important as Surviving Actors is working with actors, and knows how tough survival really is. However- we truly believe that to be a successful actor you must…. Develop. Sustain. Create.

Surviving Actors will take place on January 30th at Sway bar, Holborn from 10am-4pm. Free e-tickets and more information can be found on http://www.survivingactors.com
